I wanted to take a minute to let you know that I was very impressed with Vilis Ozols, the morning speaker at our Forum meeting, earlier this week. His subject content was great, as were the examples he used to get his points across. Those in attendance I had a chance to speak to were all in agreement he was a definite “hit”. From my perspective, I would have to say that he is undoubtedly the best and most entertaining speaker I have had the pleasure to listen to, since attending the Forum meetings. The organizing committee deserves special kudos! See you at the next meeting.

I attended the Executive Forum of February 10, 2010 and thoroughly benefited from the information delivered. I found that Vilis Ozols brought on motivating concepts and suggestions to improve communication in my department. I now understand why I have the impulse to repeat….repeat…..repeat.
The second speaker Peter Hall is an economist with heightened awareness of our economical climate. I have had the pleasure to hear him speak in the past and I hope we can have him back with more time allocation as he has an incredible amount of knowledge to share.

On January 15th 2009, Captain "Sully" Sullenberger and his crew from US
Airways flight 1549 became a hero to the nation as well as to 155 very
grateful individuals and their families. Landing that Airbus 320
successfully on the frigid waters of the Hudson River that day in New
York soon became known as the "Miracle on the Hudson."

The US Airways Captain commented on this achievement, saying: "One way
of looking at this might be that for 42 years, I've been making small,
regular deposits in this bank of experience: education and training. And
on January 15 the balance was sufficient so that I could make a very
large withdrawal." Having "Sully" as Captain of that flight with the
experience, education and training made the difference!

In the credit and collection management profession, experience,
education, and training are crucial as well. The National Credit &
Financial Executives' Forum is one organization that assists greatly in
this by providing continuing education and training. Recently, they held
an event that addressed the following topics: "Slaying the E-Mail
Dragon" and "The Most Common Mistakes Managers Make in Troubled Times."
As managers, we are always striving to implement best practices, improve
processes, reduce costs, train staff and develop enhanced business
strategies.

Accounts receivable management professionals of course can't save 155
lives like "Sully" did, but they can continue to be well trained and
have years of experience so that they can make a significant impact for
the betterment of their customers, staff and company.
